Youth Lands 20-pound Pike
Caption:"Jonathan Pitt (right), 16, holds up the 20 1/4-lb. Northern Pike he caught recently in Lake Nipissing with friend Ken Peters. Pitt hadn't been ice fishing since he was six years old. And, as luck would have it, Peters operates the Silver Doctor Taxidermy Studio in Redbridge and has offered to mount the fish for Pitt."
The Silver Doctor invited this young friend out to his Research Station (ice-shack) and he caught the fish of a lifetime. The Silver Doctor had worked for many weeks, attracting this fish to his fishing location and thought he would be the one to catch it and mount it for his display room. He still maintains that his fish was "stolen". The complete story is found in The Silver Doctor's Fishing Column (Number 3, Spring, 1996)
Here's a surprise! This skinned thirty-three inch, nineteen pound lake trout had a seventeen inch, three pound small-mouth bass in its stomach. The trout must have wanted a bit of dessert after its big meal and went after a hair jig. The successful angler was fishing at La Reserve Beauchene lodge in Quebec,(819) 627-2351. These photos were submitted, published and further commented on in the "Canadian Sportfishing Magazine", 1997 summer issue.
